PAPERMILL REPLACEMENT JOURNAL

Timeframe

6 weeks

The Brief:

Wire Roll with worn bearing seat on the journal, which necessitates the manufacture of a new bolt in type journal for the customer.

“The roll was approximately 7 meters long, had a diameter of 600mm, and weighed around 9 tonnes”

The Solution:

The roll was placed in a large CNC lathe. Skilled technicians used the lathe to completely remove the worn journal while ensuring the roll diameter remained undamaged. A new stainless steel bolt-in type shaft was manufactured for the new journal. The new shaft was fitted into the roll head plate using precision techniques to ensure a perfect fit. The roll was approximately 7 meters long, had a diameter of 600mm, and weighed around 9 tonnes.
